win7 sp1 install problem

July 26, 2011 at 08:23:56
Specs: Windows 7, intel E5700
i install the full sp1, no from win-update
extract from c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log:
[HRESULT = 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING]
-I have this so far "conclusion" from my internet study:
-Problem with a language package, he wants some files from this, and it is not present.
-Some have reverted all winupdate's, and then win7.sp1 succeded.
Others have no problem install
ing sp1, when the computer have had "win-update"- set to inactive(so no changes has been uploaded). So Win-update seems to have done something wrong.

I tried all tricks i have found so far.
-all important winupdate's in place
-local checks
-verification tools
-driver updates
-malware checks
-antivrus disabled

If it were a common issue, then millions of users would have reported this.

Only for sure test is to reload OS and apps back to OEM state then apply SP1.

Thx. for your reply. "Restart" is a good option. "Roll-back WIN-UPDATES"-until Install is working is a milder version. But i would prefer a more elegant solution. A lot of people have had this error, and i beleive they have solved this problem, via "Restart" or "Rollback".
To bad Microsoft do not have a solution.
