Specs: Windows 7, Pent 4 4 Gigs
It happens a couple of times a day. No rhyme or reason. What windows feature could be causing this?
I have Microsoft Security Essentials, Registry Mechanic and AVG2011 antivirus installed.

You shouldn't need Registry Mechanic with Windows 7.
If you at any time had Norton or McAfee installed, you may have some piece left in the registry, use their uninstaller on their website to remove completely.
If this is an upgrade to Windows 7, have you updated all of your drivers to Windows 7?
Test your memory using Memtest86 to look for errors, if you get any, retest with one stick at a time for find problem stick, replace as needed.
Use Speedfan to monitor your internal temperatures to see if you have a problem there.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
