win7 search options

September 21, 2010 at 06:04:35
Specs: Windows 7
one thing I find incredibly annoying when searching through folders is the auto filter (not sure what its called). The search starts as soon as you type the first character. This freezes the system, to display irrelevant files.

I do not wish to turn off index if possible. is this an option in win7?

ta.

Forget about Windows 7 search. It's hard to tame even with all THIS tweakings. Why don't you try out Agent Ransack the Free File Searching Utility and lite version of FileLocator Pro.

Damn it! I have been playing with the free Agent Ransack and am superbly impressed its performance compared to native Win7 search. I think I ought to get a copt of the more sophisticated FileLocator Pro version for my toolbox and everyday use,
