Solved Win7 RAIDed my two other H/D's

February 7, 2014 at 16:05:06
Specs: Windows XP
Before upgrading to Win7 from XP, I used the F/T wizard to save all my old settings. I saved them to my D drive. I also had a E drive with another WD, both IDE. After upgrading, in device mang. only the SATA drive shows. That is the boot drive. I found my other two in the BIOS in the boot section under DRIVES. They show as RAID drive 2 and 3. I don't remember given the choice to use RAID. Can I recover my two drives?
Thanks
Nick

Look in Windows Disk Management for all your drives. Post all information you find for all drives.

Did you change any data cabling?

The BIOS setting only means that the disks are RAID ready, not that they have been configured as a RAID array. They can still be configured as JBOD. Installing an operating system doesn't change this so this must have been the setting all along.

Probably you just need to assign drive letters to the drives in Disk Management.

✔ Best Answer
Thank you guys. I did some digging, and found my RAID drivers were not there. So I dug some more, found the ITE site that built the card. It's obsolete now, but did have the drivers. Installed them and plugged the power back on for the two drives. They showed up. Must have done something right!
Thank you again for answering my request. Wish I could select both as Best Answer!! Now, how do I mark this as solved??

When you mark a "best answer", that marks the thread as "solved". You will see the word solved when outside that thread, in the list of your followed threads and the list of posts in each forum.

OK Thanks. And these too short messages won't go either. :-)
