Solved WIN7 make network files writable

May 23, 2012 at 15:02:04
Specs: Windows 7
I have a desktop and laptop connected via a wireless network. Each of the PCs belong to a homegroup. I can "see" and access files on one computer from the other but can not write or delete from one to the other.

I've tried modifying permissions and ownership, but can't seem to accomplish modifying a file on one PC from the other.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Your settings for shares are at the local source. If you connect with a user that has the credentials for read write then it should allow you to read and write.

Both share and ntfs permissions tend to be involved.

Hang up and live.

✔ Best Answer
Was able to solve problem by selecting folders and assigning Full Control via Properties - Security tabs.

Thanks!
