I made a password yesterday on Win 7 on my laptop. I worked fine all day yesterday. This morning it does not work. I cannot login and I can not switch user. I have gone is via safe mode the login screen still appears. Do not tell me I need a password reset disk I do not have one, did not know I would need one in less the 24 hours of setting one. Laptop did not come with OS Win7 CD.

Could it be as simple as the cap lock one yesterday or on today?

The lesson to be learned here is that you need to make a reset disk immediately you create the password.

Never heard of that so called bug.

I guess you could add on a usb keyboard (borrow one if you have to) and try it. Could be the keyboard is bad.

If you have used a password a few times we can suspect you at one time knew it and it worked. So what has changed? Either someone changed it or some malware changed it or you are not putting in the correct one anymore for some reason.

There are more issues here too. First you should have created the disks to recover it along with the reset disk but that is neither here nor there just yet. You may also be using the admin account which is why this malware may have attacked if it is such.

There are some disks out there that can reset password along with some free sites but you have to be able to burn a cd or make a usb to get them to work.

Might be a local shop that can reset it safely for you for maybe $30 or so. I would not pay more than that. It takes me maybe 5 minutes to either find or reset a password.
