See if this link works.

http://www.ssa.gov/

But actually the best site should be https://socialsecurity.gov/ but

https://www.ssa.gov/ should be the same

dunno why exactly but the https site is really assigned to http://socialsecurity.gov/
It may cause an issue with your browser and warn you.

Thanks for the reply Jefro. The first address says IE cannot display the webpage. The second address says there is a problem with the security certificate and advised me to
discontinue(to which I did)further continuance.

I am not sure what is wrong with the certificate either. It does look correct to me. It could be that like another federal site, they don't offer the trail back to the original site. I can't find the problem.

I sent an email even to ssa and asked them but have not gotten a reply.

OH SNAP!!

I should have figured that out sooner.

You want https://www.socialsecurity.gov/

It was the www part.

Hi Jefro,
I finally got the social security web site to work thanks to your advise on the address. The ssa.gov.address doesn't work. The https://www.socialsecurity.gov/ works.IE also advises to go to tools, click on
internet options, click on advanced tab and scroll down to(security)and make sure the (use ssl) and (use tls) boxes are checked.
Thanks again
