run a repair/last known good config/system restore from the repair/recovery or from the f8 options, if that fails try a linux boot disk copy your files and do a full factory restore

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

flashing cursor means you lost your master boot record.
usual recovery technique is to boot the win7 cd and do a repair of the mbr.

Flashing Cursor Solved. (For me anyway)
Flashing cursor can mean many things. I had this issue 4 times. Reinstalled windows 3 times. The Problem? You won't believe this....It was my memory card for my Camera that I would place in the reader on my printer.

I had even changed the Bios to boot only from my CD ROM and my main hard drive. Why didn't that work? Well even though I normally build all my own computers this time I had CompUSA build it due to lack of time. They did not instal my motherboard drivers. Without those drivers I couldn't even get the CPU to accept slave drives.

Even though the flashing cursor can mean many different things I suggest un-hooking all of your devices accept keyboard and mouse to start. Change the boot sequence in the BIOS to CD ROM/Hard Drive and then select NO for "Boot from other devices". This is just a start. It solved my problem.
