Hi everyone,
Got an older laptop with Windows 7 on HDD (not SSD) and I use to go into Stand-by Mode after I finish working to save time after awakening.
But it hapens frequently (but NOT ALWAYS), that when I press power button the system is restarting but the screen remains black (HDD LED lamp keeps flashing), and even after several minutes screen is black.
Then when I press power button the system stops and after pressing it again the "normal" starting screen (with User and password) appears and I can start working.
What may be the reason for such a random occurence of black screen after awakening from Stand-by Mode?

I suggest you set the advanced power settings to "never" suspend the hard drive. That should stop that behavior.

OtheHill,

I'm surprised at that advice. Are you sure about it?
Can you explain it at all?

✔ Best Answer
Please go to the Power Options from the control panel.
In the Hibernate tab check the "Enable Hibernation"
Also, set the system standby to never.
I hope it will solve your problem.
