take out the ram that you put in crooked, and just run it with the working ram slot.
if its still under warranty, set every thing back to original and RMA it, but dont say why it went wrong..

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

If not under warranty, try maxing out the memory in the remaining slot (s) and see if that works for you. If your system supports dual channel memory, it will work best with matching pairs of memory, so that is a consideration too. If the memory slot is damaged (not just the hold down) and not workable for you, you can purchase a replacement identical motherboard from your system manufacturer and the swap out will not be very difficult (assuming it is a desktop), you may need to update your drivers if they had any version change though. Understand that if you decide to purchase an aftermarket motherboard, depending upon how much similar it is, you may need to reactivate or even reinstall windows, and that may need a call to MS, or purchase a new copy of windows. So if you do choose an aftermarket board, consider one from the same manufacturer with the same chipset, and you may be able to load windows (if necessary, try safe mode), BUT update to the new drivers immediately.
In any of these cases, back up your files first.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Make sure that the sticks are seated comfortably. Also give them a wipe over as finger prints on the sticks may cause issues. Try switching around the RAM sticks and see if you can find an error with one of them. One of the indervidual chips may have an error.
