your windows 7 is an old rc/beta copy

The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You’ll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use.

Did you buy the PC with Win 7 pre-installed or did you install Win 7 yourself ?

If you installed Win 7 yourself, then you should know if it is RC or gold. If it is RC, then princecorum's comments apply.

If Win7 is installed by a seller, then you may consider being cheated. RC version has a stamp on the wallpaper in the bottom right of the screen. But there is software to remove the watermark.

We will know for sure in about a month. If you have a RC it will not work.
