Win 7 Pro on Gateway desktop will not start

Specs: Windows XP
Gateway DX4200-09. quad4 AMD 2.8 x 4 - W7 pro.- 8Ghz mem.I turned computer off,and now it stays in sleep mode,start button blue light flashing,Checked battery video card & mem.Still will not start

Press the power button at the computer for at least 4 seconds.
The computer should power off completely.
Then turn it on again in the normal way.

The original poster should always write the last response !!!

Hold down the start button until it shuts off completely, that varys, but usually 5 to 7 seconds, then wait 5 or 6 seconds more and press again to start.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

if all else fails try switching off by the switch on the power supply unit(if you have one) or just pull the plug from the wall wait 10 secs then plug it all back in restart as normal..

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
