Generic question, generic answer.
A single key not working is probably a problem in the keyboard itself. If under warranty, bring/send it back (after backing up your files) for repair/replacement. If not, you can try a driver update from your manufacturer's website, but I am not confident that a software update if really the answer here. You may have to have a factory authorized service center repair/replace the keyboard and pay for it (if it is reasonably new but out of warranty).
((Unless anyone else disagrees with me on this))

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

"Win 7 laptop keyboard cannot type letter A"

Response #1 is right...generic is all you will get unless you give more info.
a)Did the laptop come with 7 installed or was it an upgrade?
b)Did the 'A' key ever work?
c)Was the Laptop dropped?

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
