Win 7 32-bit desktop gadgets stopped working

Microsoft Windows 7 home premium upgrade...

Specs: Windows 7
Only one sidebar gadget works anymore. The rest stopped showing up or partially showed up. I tried deleting and reinstalling 3 of my favorite gadgets, but same problem with not working right. What would cause this? I've been through all troubleshooting and computer maintenance I know about. How to fix it? Windows 7, 32 bit, lots of empty computer space and plenty of speed.

I tried that last night but it didn't solve the problem. I tried older and older dates until the computer warned me not to use a date that was older than two months. The gadgets that "come with" Windows 7 show up in their own folder but don't display properly on the desktop. Only the analog clock is usable. I uninstalled the clock thinking I was simply closing it, and now I don't even have that default clock. So now I have none of the original gadgets that will actually work even though they are supposedly installed. I miss the clock, calendar, and weather. Help!

The secret to system restore is that you choose one, if it doesn't work , then you have to undo it before choosing another one or it will mess up your PC.

I didn't have a restore date that brought back the desktop gadgets correctly. So far, they just show up partially. Usually, not the graphic but just the tools. But the tools don't work. So I still don't have a solution. Plus I deleted the 3 gadgets that worked when I thought I was just turning them off. So now they are gone from the gadget list in the gadget folder. I miss my clock and calendar. Any other ideas?
