Solved will I lose all my JPEG image if I Delete Win7 Paint program

June 20, 2015 at 08:08:45
Specs: Windows 7
Paint in win 7, how to transfer to my software. I don't like paint at all, because all my pics are jpeg
If I delete paint in win. 7 will I lose all my pics?

On my other computer, Vista, when I turned my camera on a golder would pop up with the opts to go to my software, but not in win.7 Why not?

I've just amended my EDIT in #6 so check it again.

If you are unable to find a suitable "existing" program, was there a disk with the camera? If so put it in the disk because sometimes a free photo program is included. If necessary Browse the disk in "Computer" to see if a photo program is on there in one of the folders.

Otherwise you need to download one as already mentioned.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Just for info there is an option to save items in Paint as jpg files. Do not delete Paint - that is not the right way forward.

If you are saying you want files to open with some other application then do this:
Right click any jpg file then select "Open With". You will then get options to select various different programs. If the program you want to list is not there then you need to browse to your exe file.

We cant give detailed steps unless you tell us the name of the program you wish to use.

Windows 7 normally uses "Windows Photo Viewer" unless "Windows Live Photo Gallery" has been installed.

I just deleted photosuit 4 because of some problems loading.
I need some other program similar like photopsuit 4 or photosuit SE. I have had SE on my last 4 computers and love the simple use. It came with my first camera.
Do yall know of a program like the SE?

I use GIMP which is like Photoshop but some folk find it a bit geeky.

I've seen good reports about this but have not tried it personally:
http://filehippo.com/download_picasa/

Use the big green download button top right. See if it suits your needs.

Whatever program you decide upon, if you don't get the pop-up when you plug in your camera do this afterwards:
Plug in the camera.
Go to Control Panel > Auto Play.
Find your camera on the list and set it to do whatever you want when you plug it in.

When I had photosuite 4, I would connect my camera and a box would pop up showing my camera.
When I had SE, MGI would also show up in the same box.
In phot 4, it would not show, and I tried to find photo 4 by using the browse feature but could no find it.
I can not remember what I did for SE to show up in the box, and wish I could remember, sorry for maybe so,e confusion, thanx..

If none of the mentioned programs are still present then it will not pop-up with any options.

I can only suggest you try Picasa or some other program of your choice then follow the rest of my response #4 to get the pop-up.

In the meantime you can view or copy the pictures in your camera by plugging it in, looking for the Camera Drive in "Computer" then working down the folders until you find one named DCIM. That is the folder that usually contains the pictures.

EDIT:
If you think any of the programs you mentioned are still present the look in "Control Panel > Programs and features" and see if they are still installed. You can also do a search for the program and if you find the exe file right click it and it will give you the location (path). If you get it running you can then use Auto Play to find it against the camera and set the pop-up.

I don't know that prog but it sounds as if it might be along the same lines. Plenty in Google, such as this one:
http://canon-utilities-photostitch....

EDIT:
Looks like it relates to the camera so with luck it will set the pop-up for you.

Thanx for all your help, Doyle
Loaded the mgi !!! supreme, and when I open a photo, it opens with mgi but when I save it, it goes to paint, not a mgi pic in a jpeg file. When I click on the pic, I want to open in mgi, but there is not an option for mgi. Mgi 111 is in programs, so it is loaded right. What is my problem.
In Vistat when I loaded mgi, and opened a pic, it would have the option of opening with mgi..
