Solved Why Windows Update keeps running when laptop is shut down?

Specs: Windows 7, 4 gig of Ram
My daughters laptop is doing it again and I don't remember how it was fixed when it happened a month ago. Its an Lenovo purchased from Fry's about 2 years ago. Any suggestions. She is running Windows 7. TIA for your help.

What is it doing? Running updates? Installing updates? That's normal unless you edit the Update options to only update when you tell Windows to. However, most updates require that the system be restarted, so there's no real way to avoid the configuration when shutting down.

Sorry for not getting back to you right away. I went in and deleted System Restore files that were created and rebooted. So far so good. Thanks for your help.

Forgot to tell you that it was running Windows Update each time after I shut it down. I had it set to automatically update. Now I have it set to let me tell it what to update. seems to be OK now. Thanks again.
