It's a security risk, if animations were simply pasted in they could contain a virus that would activate as soon as the e-mail was opened. W7 is much more security orientated then XP.
Use the add/insert attachment to add the file.

I use Windows Live mail 2011 and have no problem copying and pasting animated gifs into emails. What mail program are you using?

A .gif file is like any other file. It is not exactly an image but a file and that may be the issue here.

I suspect that the problem is allowing html code in both your side and the receiving side.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

Give this a try. You can access all your accounts from one program. I love it.

Thanks jefro for your reply although I did not quite understand it.

Thanks grasshopper but I could add other mail accounts already to my hotmail account but as you said you had no problems with windows live 2011 I installed it. There was no difference I am afraid .

If it is better security in windows 7 as anmor said then it is not a bad thing I guess.
Thank you all for your replies.
