Specs: Windows 7 Ultimate, 3.2 GHz / 4094 MB
I recently noticed my hard drive went from 7gb free space to about 300mb. I hadn't downloaded or installed anything. I made some space and it was at 45gb and now it's at 37.6gb. I have no idea what it might be please help!!

There are many reasons for these relatively small changes. Windows updates, virus checker updates, and any other updates to programs on-board. Sometimes Windows can make new restore points too. Background activity can also gobble up space at times. Sometimes a little space returns when you restart the computer.

You can reduce restore point space, if you care to risk it:

You can also change how often restore points are made:

EDIT:
Another possibility is viral or malware activity. It might be worth running this freebie to see what it finds and fixes. Green button top right:

Uncheck the trial during install. If it finds anything paste the log on here because that means further attention will probably be necessary.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
