Why is laptop suddenly asking for HDD/SDD password at signon

Specs: Windows 7
My Laptop is asking for a HDD/SDD password when I start it up. It has never asked me for this password before.

Assuming it a HDD password, not a BIOS or Windows login password.. What make/model is the laptop?

Are you sure you didn't run the Toshiba Password Utility and register the HDD password. You'll have to contact Toshiba and verify ownership. They may be able to help you. This may help:

No, Toshiba will NOT help you.

"CAUTION:
If you forget your HDD User Password, TOSHIBA will NOT be able to assist you, and your HDD will be rendered COMPLETELY and PERMANENTLY INOPERABLE. TOSHIBA will NOT be held responsible for any loss of data, any loss of use or access to your HDD, or for any other losses to you or any other person or organization resulting from the loss of access to your HDD."

Password requests don't just pop up on their own. Maybe someone else in the household put the password on?
