Why Does Windows 7 Login freeze?

Specs: Windows XP Home & Professional, Windows 7, Pentium 4 1.80 GHz / 1.250 GB
When I enter my password when I'm in my welcome screen in Windows 7, the computer just freezes and wont let me in. Why?

Looks like you installed win 7 with only 1gb of ram, that could be your problem, it takes at least 2GB of ram to run decent and 4GB or more to really see an improvement.

Why are you running Windows 7 on a P4 1.8GHz? Your board and other hardware are probably not supported under Windows 7. If you managed to install it, the VERY next step would be installing your motherboard drivers FOR windows 7 (if you can find them). THAT is why you cannot start windows 7, you skipped that step (or could not complete it) when the chance was there.
If you still can, delete Windows 7 partition and reload Windows XP and wait for a modern system before trying to run Windows 7 (even it you can get it to run on this system, it will be too slow on the hardware you are trying to run it).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

there is a requirement for more info if you want a valid answer to an issue, hardware makes a difference, upgrade or install makes a difference these guys are good but dont have crystal ball's

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
