why does win 7 only boot on sata

Specs: Windows 7
day started with computor rebooting at start up i rebooted useing f8 key got 3 options either hdd or sata or dvd drive ive found i can boot up ok if i choose sata comp seems fine but i cant boot up normally off hdd like i ued to be able to lol merry xmas everyone

Looks like you have a SATA hard drive where your OS is located. However, you have not set the boot order in your BIOS to reflect this.

Correct your BIOS and you should be fine.

...but i cant boot up normally off hdd like i used to be able to...

Assuming that hdd means an IDE hard drive:
This may be because you also have an IDE hard drive which also has your OS installed on it. There could be a number of reasons why that option is not working.

Without knowing how your system is set up this is the best answer you will get.

You could try giving us more detail about how your system is set up if the suggested solution here does not work.

heya well atm i have change the boot sequence to sata and the comp boots up fine im not a real whiz hence this is why im asking here....In the ide config there is a primary master and a sata1 and a sata2 dvd drive.. bit puzzled with the sata hd having a os but does make sense dealing with my er problem.I ll keep a closer watch on this site please feel free to ask more detail if you need it :-) Thanks I must add tho I do have a second hard drive which has no os its for storage games etc Cheers
