Why does my system check of C drive stop at 9%?

Specs: Windows 7
Why does my system check stop at 9%?When i start my desktop it does a system check of C drive but it stops at 9% and then my desktop restarts and the same happens again and again.

The hard drive may be starting to fail.

Back up your data to another drive, then test the system hard drive with SeaTools for DOS on a bootable CD or pen drive:

It seems you computer is not coming on. If it has a CD drive then you could use a "Live Linux" CD to back it up. These do not use the hard disk but do allow you to access its contents and back them up to a flash drive.

If you decide to (wisely I suggest) to safeguard your data... I suggest to DVD at least, rather than flash drives. Flash drives are not the most reliable; can fail (and have) at any time.

Copying to an external hard drive is even nicer/better; perhaps to both media even better...
