why does my laptop freeze while streaming video?

computer freezes while streaming video

The problem began today. I can't watch some of the videos on youtube that I watched yesterday. Some are ok. Specifically the videos that were filmed "live" (although I'm watching something that was recorded a while ago) get hung up.

Thank you.

Install HWMonitor to monitor your temperature. report back your temperatures (in degrees C) at idle, during general use, and after watching videos or playing game for a while. If, like I suspect, you have elevated temperatures, you probably have dust clogging your internal air vents. In this case, use a can of compressed air to blow out your vents and any ports that can be opened up.

Make sure that you are only using your 'laptop' on a hard surface, not on a bed, cloth covered table, or your lap since these can block the vents along the bottom and edges, causing heat to build up as well.

Report results either way as well as any other details you have and we can proceed from there. If it clearly is not temperature, include the make and model of your laptop as well.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Do you mean a complete computer freeze (where nothing works) or do you mean the rotating buffering symbol you sometimes get with videos?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

It's the semi-freeze I guess with the video 'frozen' on the screen and the little circle indicating that the computer is trying to play the video. I can use the mouse and other functions.

Thanks. I'll try that and let you know.

This happens sometimes when the website, internet or your server gets overloaded.

If you give it a few days it might well be OK again.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
