why does my computer keep on losing space?

Specs: Windows 7, 500 gb
i keep deleting files on my computer to free up space and ive deleted about 100 gb of space and it still is saying i need to free up space! why would this be happening?

Empty the recycle bin (files are moved to the recycle bin when you delete them, so they take up the same space).
Use disk clean up feature at least monthly.
Empty internet files, cookies, history at least weekly (part of disk clean up if you check that off) in browser.
If you are really pressed for space, reduce system restore's allowable space from 12-15% typically to 8-10% of hard drive space (go lower only at your own risk).
Uninstall unneeded programs.
If desktop, add a second hard drive internal $40.-$60. and move your personal files over to the new drive and keep the original drive for OS and Programs.
Add an external drive and move over an archive of files you do not use often but absolutely need to keep (you can even keep it plugged in full time for access with a desktop).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
