Why did my Windows 7 IE11 stop saving any favorites?

Microsoft Windows xp home edition w/sp2

Specs: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit
I am running Win 7 SP1 64 bit on my computer. I have had IE 11 for several months now but recently I could no longer save any web pages to "favorites". For a while I was getting the error message "Unable to create '***": Interface not registered." I tried uninstalling IE 11 and reinstalling it, but now I don't get the error message any more and I still can't add anything to favorites. Any suggestions?

That's for IE 9 but may work with 11.

I tried Guapo's suggestion and it did not help. I read somewhere that it could be a denial of access problem. I tried recreating the favorites folder and moving all the favorites into the new folder but that didn't help either.

If it's a denial of service, download, install, update & run anti malware from malwarebytes.org

I ran malwarebytes and that didn't help my problem. When I click on "Add to Favorites" I don't even get a dialog box. Nothing at all happens.

Try resetting IE:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737
This may wipe your current favorites (not sure) so Export the favorites to a file so that you can later import them if needed.
This will reset it to the way it was originally installed.
IF this does not work, then do all the following in order:
Do a system restore to a date before you first noticed the problem (use 'show more restore points' if needed.
Restart into Safe Mode.
Update and run Malwarebytes again (reinstall if needed). Remove all it finds.
Update and run your antivirus program. Remove all it finds.
Restart in normal mode.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If you right click on the web page where there is no text, does a drop down menu appear with the add to favorites option?
