Which browser to use?

June 5, 2011 at 21:01:48
Specs: Windows 7
I am thinking about using Firefox or Mozilla instead of IE9. I am not too savvy on the PC. With all the bad I read about IE I'm concerned that I should switch to make it easier for my family to use. We mainly surf the net, watch videos on You Tube and play games on Facebook.

dont listen to all the hype, as a tool most browsers are of a one-ness, particular choice is really the main reason people use different ones, try a couple and see if there is one you like to use.. so long as you have a good AV like MSSE, you should be fine.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

@princecorum i don't agree. Internet Explorer is probably the worst browser.
Firefox and Chrome are faster (and its tested)
@mike_heruki If you want power and more flexibility, go for firefix. but if you want simplicity and fastness, i recommend chrome coz i myself use Chrome and it rocks.
One other reason i use chrome is better sync. You don't have to setup other pc from the main PC to sync (like in firefox). All you need is a google account to sync!

Everyone uses his own prefered internet browser.
I also do not use Internet Explorer for web browsing, because of ActiveX, which is mostly effected by some security holes.

But other browsers do also have security problems and therefore it's a good idea, to use a web browser with some good add-ons, to secure web surfing.

I prefer Firefox in conjunction with the add-ons Adblock Plus and NoScript and I think, it's a good way to surfe the net securely.

Why not have both IE9 and Firefox (or Chrome)? It can be very handy if one happens to fail you and will put you in a good postion to see which you prefer. Also if you are following a search string in one you can bring up the other to look for something else then return you previous search.

Please do not post then vanish - let us know the outcome
