where do downloaded documents from g.mail go

Specs: Windows 7, 1.00 GB
My husbands computer. He is on gmail and when he downloads incoming mail we cannot find it .
My downloads on a different computer go automatically into My Documents.

What do you mean by downloads incoming email? Are you talking about attachments?

it normally varies between xp and win 7.
if you use xp you can go to my documents and there will be a folder, downloads and it will be in there. if you use windows 7 or vista you can go to the start menu, right at the top, just below the picture there will be a option with your pc name. click on it and a window will open. now go to the downloads folder and it will be in there

It depends on the browser and how it's set up. Most browsers allow the user to set the default download folder in their options. MS, I see, does not make it easy . Another reason why their browser is only a backup around here. I find the desktop to be the most convenient location, and the regular cleaning it requires is a good thing.
