Another option is to download the Windows 7 image (ISO)

You need to know your your windows Product key usually located on the bottom of you laptop.

After the installation, update device drivers with gateway versions where needed.

I do not think that the link which an earlier person gave will allow you to download the Windows 7 ISO image. I believe that link will only accept retail Product Keys.
You should have a Manufacturer's sticker on the base of your laptop which has a 25-character Product Key listed which is NOT a retail Product Key. If you were to download a retail version of Windows 7 from somewhere that Product Key would NOT activate Windows.
You have to download (or borrow) a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM Installation DVD from somewhere. The OEM is important. That stands for "Original Equipment Manufacturer". It is the ONLY installation Disk that your Product Key will successfully activate.
If you are familiar with Torrents then you can easily find the correct ISO image which I stated above.
Once you have the ISO image downloaded, you merely have to have a blank 8GB Flash Drive handy. The method of burning the ISO to the Flash Drive is a simple one. Merely download this tool from Microsoft and run it. That software tool will create a bootable Flash Drive with the Windows 7 OEM installation files on it.

Search Google for: Windows USB/DVD Download Tool

You may have to go into the laptop's BIOS to select the boot device, but hopefully you have the knowledge to do that or to successfully research it.
Finally, you will need the drivers from Gateway's support website. Once Windows is installed it will likely have many missing drivers, including the LAN and WiFi drivers which allow Internet access. Probably best to have those before you begin your installation. They can be copied to the same Flash Drive AFTER it has been created with the tool.

Good Luck
