Specs: Windows 64, 4 GB DDR3 Memory
My computer is acting really strange please help!
Ever since I can remember my computer is freezing while watching movies.
I don't know what the problem is or what it could be. Games seem to work fine.
I've tried:
installing all kinds of software for my NVIDIA Ge-force GT 420M
installing different kinds of Media players Such as:
Windows media player, DivX Player and so on.

My video card doesn't seem to be overheated. It just freezes.. Sometimes using some media player.. Sometimes movies work on the one media player but not on the other...

It's really strange to me...
Any 1 knows what is going on? Help please.

If, you didn't have the codecs, you either wouldn't get any sound OR video, but it would play smoothly.

If, when using other things, the display is ok, then the graphics drivers are ok.

I would run superantispyware, & scan for Malware. ie Malwarebytes.

If you start task manager, then try playing the video, look at the list to see which process is causing the cpu to go high.

Another thing, to stop some services.

Run msconfig startup, then deselect some of the items. You don't need things like skype, adobe updater, google updater.

Get rid of any extra tool bars

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

The place to look my be in task manager, performance manager or event logs.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

It really isn't like that. I shall describe it in more details:
When I try to watch a movie, it works! Also I can watch the movie for atleast 15 minutes before SOME movies SOMETIMES freez. And when it does the sound freezes aswell. Mostly when I try to watch it on a external screen.
It has so particular pattern. It just freezes and that ruins the whole movie.
(freezing takes from 5 seconds (constantly) up to 1 freeze for 2 minutes every 30 minutes ( This is totally random )

Any 1 other suggestions??

I agree with Johnw, stop all uneeded processes.

I would also, run ccleaner, & superantispyware.

Also install VLC player.

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

@ Clive_Pearce
Thanks for the advise ;) I did what you said. BUT I have installed it before. And so far I remember it didn't work out. I also changed settings within the VLC Player.
And again.. It's just the player that freezes my CPU is perfectly fine! when it freezes I can easily search on the internet... Or start up other programs. (mostly)

The codecs must have been installed incorrectly.

What is the extension of the movie file, .avi, .mpg, etc. and what is the resolution of the movie, 720p, 480p, 480i, etc. ?
