Solved when browsing online or in an open file, the screen scrolls

Specs: Windows 7
For about 6 months now, I have had a problem when I am web browsing or editing or reading a file, Word, PDF, Winword where the cursor and screen begin scrolling up and down by itself. I have Firefox, Opera and IE and it occurs in all three browsers. I also have another partition that runs Windows Pro 8.1 and I use Windows 7 and it occurs under both operating systems. I have tried scanning my system with Webroot Secure Anywhere Complete and many times it will flag a W32 type of malware and has found W32.Optimum Installer and others but even after they are removed, the problem returns. I am running out of ideas. Can anyone help. I would greatly welcome ideas from minds much greater than mine. Thank You

Please let us know the make and model number of your computer (at present we don't know if its a PC or laptop).

It is unusual for a virus to skip across partitions, or for that matter a software problem. This raises the possibility of a hardware issue, in particular a mouse or keyboard fault.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Thank you Derek. You were correct. I changed out my mouse and haven't had any problems in over a week. I never suspected my mouse buy now it looks like I should have! Thank you so much for making me re-think my logic.
