According to instuctions suppose to start unit, press F12, put in system disc and choose one of the above options to load disc, but optons don't exist. Are there other options?

Are you sure you are pressing and holding down F12 as soon as you turn on your laptop?

If you can't do it that way, go into BIOS Setup, set the CD drive as the first boot device, then "save and exit".

To get into BIOS Setup try pressing and holding F2 as soon as you turn it on.

Not sure on your model, but if you want back to out of box condition like the day you bought it, you use those disks. Have you saved the data or don't care about it? Acer sometimes has a built recovery partition you access by pressing alt+F10, on start up, it can be fussy and how you hold your tongue, but if you have a recovery partition that will access it on acer. Now it there isn't one, you have the disks, they simply want the machine to boot off the cd 1st, hence f12 is supposed to bring up a Startup boot menu that allows you to boot off the cd or other options. If you cannot get that working than go into the bios and under boot (usually) you can select the boot order of the computer, set the cd as the first boot device, then hard drive as the 2nd. Save changes and restart the computer with the 1st cd in the tray, it should start, boot off the cd and begin the process.
