Hi. Im about to buy new hardware including I5 cpu, z67 mainboard 16gb ddr3 ram and a120GB SSD to upgrade my computer. As i have never had a SSD drive and never did system istalation on such a drive my question is how to corectly install windows 7 on ssd drive. Do I need to be aware or any issues or will Win7 do all automaticaly? is there a step by step guide anywhere on the net worth looking at to get the best from windows on SSD?
Thank you
Just the standard suggestions: make sure the HDD supports TRIM, make sure the HDD is in AHCI mode before you install Win7, make sure the HDD has the most recent firmware, make sure you have the most recent drivers, and make sure you never defrag the drive.
It's no different than installing Win7 on a SATA HDD. Simply partition, format, & install. Being that it's a small drive, just create one partition using all available space. Install Windows & the basic necessities on the SSD, everything else should go on a conventional HDD.
