RSoDs mean the boot loader failed. That implies the Windows image on your USB is bad.

So F12 is the key to access the boot menu on your computer? Try tapping the key from the moment you turn it on. Also you should be able to access the menu from bios setup--probably F1 or F2.

It's probably what razor said in # 1 since you're also seeing bootloader errors. If so and if it's coming from the hard drive then you're hitting the key(s) too late (since it's trying to boot from the hard drive) or it's not recognizing the keystrokes.

If you don't punch any keys and don't have the USB drive in and you let it go ahead and boot (or try to) from the hard drive, what happens? Do you still get the red screen?

i tried starting it with usb in while hitting the key It says missing op system so i took it out restarted it hit the key F12 for boot several times wouldnt do anything so I hit F2 for bios (which in case you cannot tell I know nothing about)(smile) anyway that is when the red screen came up with about 4 options i. e. S L I C Loader some other s l i c options Ive never seen the screen red and do not know what slic stood for. It is my desktop in the other room I am able to star and open windows /go on line because unfortunately I remember user password just not admin.at this point is there a way to tell the computer to boot from flash drive (providing I get to the right screen?

Your pogostick link is bad.

If you're getting 'missing operating system' then whatever it's trying to boot from doesn't have system files. Since that only seems to happen when you have the USB plugged in (right?) then maybe that's what it's trying to boot from and you didn't create it correctly.

Again what happens when you start it up without the USB stick plugged in and you don't press any keys? Do you get a red screen, error messages or does it go to the windows password screen?
