If Windows 7 compatibility tester says you cannot effectively run Windows 7, the only choices you have would be continue running your old operating system (probably XP), switching to Linux, or purchasing/building a new computer. Since you did not post your system spec's, I will need to keep my comments general in nature, but if you have XP and the system is not too old, you can improve things typically by maxing out your memory, adding/upgrading your graphics card, and cleaning your your system (or possibly reinstalling XP clean and fresh and then updating it to SP3 and beyond). If your system is older, don't spend too much on it since you will be in the market for a new system soon anyway.

You should know that Windows 7 is fast and efficient on new fast hardware, but most who try it on older hardware find that it uses much more resources than they have and actually runs slower on that old hardware than XP does.

For more specific advice, or if I mis-read your question, please post back with details.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
