What is causing my IE to freeze and not respond. I am running IE 9 on an older Dell Dimension 4600i with 2 GB of memory.

Try rolling back to the previous version of IE by uninstalling IE9, or better still install Firefox and use that instead: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo...

Look at event logs. Did it always fail? Can you try a restore point to a time when it worked?

IE10 is due out soon. Some MS stuff really needs IE so you may need to keep it for at least some stuff.
