New Windows 7 Asus netbook was working great after a few tweeks, installs and uninstalls. It performed many system restarts with the new installs and there was no problem. Then it would not restart after an install last week and it will not restart now even when I select restart. Just a black screen but I can hear it and the power light is on. I end up holding down the on switch to power it off and start all over. It will start up but I am wondering how to set the boot bios and if they are right or not. There is a Boot Boost, Onboard Lan Rom, and Express Gate. Which ones do I enable and why, and could this be part of my problem. I disable all of them and the computer started up fine. I installed a 2GB module to upgrade the memory, but it was not restarting before I did that. Can someone help me out here. Thanks

take out the newly installed memory and replace with the old memory see if you still have the problem, you may bought a bad stick.
use the f8 function and do a system restore to a date before the issue started.

disable each of the boost, lan rom and express gate, 1 at a time to find which item is causing the issue, then make sure you get updated drivers, etc.
dont mess with the bios except to set it too default.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

Hi, thanks for the info. I ended up taking out the 2GB and put the 1GB back in and it works perfectly again. I must have shut that thing down, disconnected that battery and started it back up at least 10 over the last couple of days. I finally asked Asus to recommend the exact 2GB module that works and they did send me the info so I will try it tomorrow. Cheers
