There should be no need to adjust anything in the BIOS to install Win7. Just insert the DVD and blow away the WinXP partition, reformat and install. Be sure first that there are appropriate drivers for your hardware.

Run the windows 7 upgrade advisor first:

http://windows.microsoft.com/upgrad...

Also you will need to set the DVD Drive as first boot device in BIOS.

REMEMBER to save any data and ensure that you have Windows 7 compatible versions of your software you wish to install,

Just to add: when changing from XP to W7 (assuming you get all clear from upgrade adviser and download all of your drivers to a flash drive and have backed up your files to a separate drive) you will need to do this as a clean install, this means choosing Custom and Partition/Format and completely replacing with a clean installation of Windows 7 as the only correct and problem free way to go from XP to W7. I recommend deleting the XP partition and creating a new partition and formatting it to install on.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
