if your goin to start disk cleanup unselect (thumbnails "thumb" )
that's only if you want ( large or extra large icons ) to show up fast ..

but about the rest try this ..

1- restart your pc >> the moment its start again keep pressing (F8)
** if (windows) start this mean you missed it **
2- black screen with options will show up ..

3- now use the keyboard to select ( Last Known Good Configuration ..) and Enter
** like this : http://devilsworkshop.org/files/200...

4- press enter again if it shows another black screen

this should help ..

If you can change the desktop background from one solid color or another in the usual manner (Start - Control Panel - Appearance & Personalization - Change Desktop Background), but when you select a background "wallpaper" image it doesn't work, then the issue is in the "accessibility options". Do Start - Control Panel - Ease of Access - Optimize Visual Display - Make Things Easier To See. You will see that one of the things that might have been checked is to disable background images. When I set up a Windows 7 PC for an older person, I chose to make things easier to see and never realized that would deny him having a desktop background image.
