Specs: Windows 7
Hi, I mis-installed w7x32 at my comp, (after crash of 8.1x64) and now I cannot clear install win7x64, nor update to 8... how to get rid of win7x32, like wipe disk clean and re-install OS?
It doesn't lemme use any utilities (-it is still runnung/in use-) and when I put w7x64 installation CD in, says "your system doesn't support.." blah blah, you know what I mean. I do NOT ask for "file backups", have that settled already, just want to GET RID of x32 and set x64.... comp has 8RAM+ so yeah

Are you saying that you cannot boot from the DVD?

You may want to check to see if your system has a recovery partition. If it does you could restore it back to windows 8.

If you instead want windows 7 64 bit you need to delete the partition with the 32-bit install. Basically you boot from the 64 bit cd and choose to start the install. A page comes up asking where you want to install it. Click on 'drive options (advanced)' and the next page will allow you to delete the partition. The procedure is explained in detail here:

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/opera...

and on the next page. The fellow posting this decided it takes 34 pages to describe how to install windows 7 so you may want to review some or all of them to make sure you get it right.
