My laptop came with windows 7 Home Premium edition, i wanted to have ubuntu and windows 7 in dual boot, using grub. I install ubuntu 10.10, but Dell data safe is rewrite the MBR, i really needed UBUNTU for a Homework, i had to format my hard drivepartition, and i lose my recovery partition.

I want know to install Windows 7 Proffesional Edition, but Windows 7 installer doesn't see my hard drive, instead it asks me to give it drivers, where can i get this drivers?

Exist a possibility to download my dell factory image for my laptop?

Marian.

its asking for the sata drivers, you will be able to download them from the dell site or they may be on the driver disk.
you can also ask for a recovery dvd from dell.

if you know what the HDD manufacturer is you can download the installation tools and run from cd, that way you can recover the drive, format create partitions and that should resolve your issue.

install win 7 1st and linux after.

but cant help myself....

My system was bought in Canada, and i'm in Romania, i want to request a DVD with my factory settings, and i want to know if i can request it for my address in romania ? Or i have to request it for my address in Camada?

My hard Drive is :
sudo lshw -businfo -C disk
Bus info Device Class Description
======================================================
scsi@0:0.0.0 /dev/sda disk 500GB Hitachi HTS72505

I tried with my DVD Drivere received with my laptop, but Windows 7 Pro installer say that is not for my hard drive... wich driver do i have to use?

Windows 7 doesn't have incorporate Sata driver?

did you make any changes in the bios at any point?

as for sending you a install dvd, i think so long as you can prove you are the owner they should send it too any address.

Hitachi site doesn't provide any drive, or i didn't see, only provide tools for test or features.

Dell site provide some drivers, but for 1747 all drivers are for Segate no Hitachi.

On my drivers DVD are the Segate drivers only.

I tried with many drivers, i change ACHI with ATA and is the Same, partition doesn't revail.

I tried with:
http://support.dell.com/support/dow...

and other
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...

i tried to scan but no result, is scann infinity:
http://www.intel.com/support/detect...

I can understand how ubuntu installer see my hard drive, but windows not, i will check tommorow my hard drive with Hiren Boot to see if i will find something in my hard drive... and then i whant to format all hard drive and check again....
