this began just after I got rid of an agressive spyware. now, whenever I try to open a .exe file, it just opens a window asking me which program I want to use to open this file, with only Internet Explorer as an option. I can work it around by going in other programs and choosing the program to open itself, but it is quite annoying (and I'd like it to work anyway). however, opening a file associated with a program will launch it.
I only found answers for windows XP and vista.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950... You can try this method from Microsoft. Be sure to backup your registry first.
thanks, but it didn't work. I did everything as explained, but when I type "REG IMPORT Exe.reg" in the command invite, I get the following message (roughly translated from French) : "error during the opening of the file. the error could come from the hard drive or the file system".
also, they didn't say where to save the Exe.reg file, so I just saved it in my default file, "Documents". I don't know if the problem might come from there...
thanks, this one worked perfectly !
@grasshopper...the link you gave worked perfectly!!! Thanks a bunch!!!
