W7 BSOD when saving to SMB share - rdbys.sys

September 12, 2010 at 20:59:02
Specs: Windows 7
I started to have what I thought were random bsod 2 days ago but have now traced it to when I save an image to a network SMB share I get the bsod and rdbys.sys showing on the bsod page. The system was working fine until 2 days ago. Only thing that has changed was a partial install of Acrobat add on McAfee security which I stopped part way. I uni stalled using the McAfee remover and cleaned the registry. I am not sure that the McAfee is part of the problem or not but as it is totally removed now I tend to think not.

Cheers
Andy

Oh, well no comments from anyone but found the fix myself in the end. After long search I found it is a setting in smb.conf that windows does not like hence BSOD. changed "security = share" to "security = user" in smb.conf and no more crashes.
