Do any power lights come on? Do you hear fans spinning up?

What about beeps. If you hear some, check your manual for what they mean, as this could be a sign it's a motherboard issue.

What is the exact make and model of your computer?

Does your computer POST? Can you get into BIOS?

Have you tried using a different graphics card?

Have you tested the RAM?

Why is my screen black when I start Windows 7?

The steps suggested on the Microsoft page that Johnw linked to
should be followed only AFTER determinining that the problem is with
Windows, not with hardware.

The problem could be with your power supply, motherboard, hard drive,
video board, monitor, or the connections between them. There are so
many possibilities because your description of the problem is so vague.

Does the computer start normally before the loading of Windows begins?
Does text ever show up on your screen, or is it black from the beginning,
and just stays black?

To find out whether the problem is with the computer or the monitor,
plug a different monitor into the computer, and / or plug the monitor into
a different computer.

If you want help, you will have to describe the problem much better.

Do you ever see anything at all on the screen? If not it is a hardware fault.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
