Hi everyone.
I have an acer 6930, running windows 7.
I have a problem with the following; it starts with the volume word being displayed on screen permanently, along with this, the volume up & down control is disabled. When this is on screen the caps lock is locked on and the number lock is locked on so i can't use the numerical side of the keyboard. I've also noted that if I'm surfing the net, instead of a new page opening up on a tabbed page(so i just back space to the original entry) I get new tabs opening every time I click on something on the page.

If the numlock is lit and you can't use the numeric keypad, you have a keyboard problem. Numlock being lit means the keypad is active or enabled.

Check your browser settings. How new pages open and links respond is controlled by the browser.

Download the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool and run it.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...

It changes, so download and run it weekly.

Is there a red x through the speaker icon in the system tray at the bottom right?

Try using an external keyboard. If that fixes your issue, try replacing the keyboard on your laptop.
