We have Windows 7 on an HP laptop. The laptop originally had Vista, but it was removed and Windows 7 installed. The problem we are seeing is two-fold. When trying to attach a document to an email (using either web-based AOL or GMAIL) as soon as the attach button is chosen, the window opens that would allow one to choose the source file. When any attempt is made to select a source file, the window freezes and can only be closed. This is the first problem.
The second problem is that no downloads from the internet are being permitted.
We know this is not Internet Explorer because is happens with Firefox as well. We know it's not our little LAN because the other laptop (running XP) has no difficulty.
There has to be some switch somewhere in Windows 7 that is causing this.
I would assume that you are at home and not at a work location?
It is not a by default setting. It may have been transferred over by the update from Vista or went bad at the upgrade.Playing to the angels

you said vista was removed, so i assume you installed win 7 from a dvd/usb, or download, i would suggest that you run a repair of win 7, drop the dvd in the player and restart, choose repair..that should fix these glitches. i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
