Virtual XP crashing after updates?

I was recently forced to purchase a new computer for work as my old one died. I was also forced to install virtual xp as a couple of cad programs are not supported by windows 7. Initially everything went ok and I had the software running ok but, in an attempt to stream line vxp, I shut it down so I could allocate more memory to it. Upon shut dawn vxp installed 13 updates and has never run again, thanks microsoft!

I've done a system restore and uninstalled virtual xp but I'm wondering if I should remove all the windows updates from the time I got the computer, as I can't tell which ones are the vxp updates, or would that only help if I could get into vxp and uninstall them from there?

Did you try running the programs using "program compatibility mode"?

You are not really sure if the updates or your tweaking the memory is the problem.

As riider suggested, you may have better luck using a compatibility mode instead. I have found that to support older hardware better.
