my usb device is not detected what should i do?

Unfortunately you haven't given a lot of information about what the USB device is, whether it previously worked or it's a first-time install what follows may be totally off-track, but if you don't ask a full question you don't get a full answer....

Go into Control Panel/Device Manager and look down to see if it is there but with an asterisk against it. (If you insert a USB device and it doesn't load the drivers correctly then, by default, it will ignore it the next time you plug it in). Right-click the unrecognised device, click 'uninstall', remove the device and then reinsert it. If it is recognised but still cannot find drivers then you will need to go to the manufacturer's website and locate them.

Look for the USB drive in Windows disk management. You may need to partition/format & maybe assign a drive letter when it disk management.
