Solved Upgrade Vista to W7 with Asus W7 Recovery DVD

Specs: Windows Vista, Intel Core2 Duo 2.53GHz / 4.06GB RAM
Stupid question, likely, but I have an Asus running 64 bit Vista and my fiance has an Asus running Windows 7. I'd like to upgrade my OS to Win7, but I don't know if those recovery disks actually have a full version or just enough to fix an already installed copy. Can anyone tell me before I decide to dive in and screw it all up?

Those links didn't really answer my question. I've already read the clean install article, which was great, but I'm asking if I can upgrade to 7with the recovery disk, not just do a clean install of Vista.

You would still need an activation key for Win7, you cannot use the same one twice, in which case you may just as well buy a standard upgrade.

You don't say where in the world you are but if you are a student, teacher, or know anyone who is, you can get cheap, legitimate Win7 upgrade versions from various sources. In the UK, it's a site called Software4Students

I suspected that the key might be an issue as well. I'm in the US and, yes, I am a student, which would give me a discount. I think I might go ahead and just buy the upgrade.

Thank you very much for your help!
