Solved unable to ftp from Win 7 machine, no problem with XP

December 13, 2015 at 15:32:02
Specs: Windows 7
My Windows 7 machine will not ftp either via Ipswitch WS_FTP_12 program or via the Command Prompt. Any suggestions?

I operate an XP machine using the same modem, and isp and it has no problems.

Did you try, right clicking on it & selecting, > Run as administrator.

Dear JohnW,

I believe the problem will be discovered in the Faraway FRST.txt and Addition.txt logs as with the password issue.

✔ Best Answer
Morning Anthony.

Make sure your license is activated.

Start > All Programs > Ipswitch WS_FTP 12 > Manage WS_FTP license

Follow the steps on screen.

Another way, try using the W7 built in FTP.

Dear John,

Ipswich is OK now.

I visited http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/wi... and yes, I can connect but this is very time-consuming and I am unsure how to transfer and one must log on to ftp for each activity and it there seems to be no obvious was to paste but over an existing file. This is no solution.

Anthony.

try Filezilla if you want to transfer files:
https://filezilla-project.org/

No licenses needed

Dear John W,

Thank you for your assistance. Ipswich is running well. Today I tried to ftp in Command Prompt through another isp and it connected. The problem is our isp and its blacklisting by Microsoft.

Thank you for your assistance in these matters.

Kind regards,

Anthony
