Solved Unable to Connect to Internet

December 11, 2013 at 05:15:58
Specs: Windows 7
I have been travelling quite frequently lately and I have stayed in 7 different hotels using my Laptop but recently I have not been able to connect to the internet. Whenever I tried to connect to the internet, I keep getting this error "Unidentified Ip configuration". I get the same error even if I try using wifi or LAN. I have checked my configuration by using ipconf /all and noticed that I do not have a Default Gateway address. Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks.

It sounds like your computers network interfaces aren't getting DHCP information correctly. I would suggest you try resetting your TCP/IP stack to see if that fixes the issue.

To reset your TCP/IP stack first open a command prompt window (ie: Start >> Run >> type cmd and hit Enter) and perform the following command:

netsh int ipv4 reset c:\resetlog.txt

(change ipv4 to ipv6 to reset IPv6 in Windows 7 – in Windows XP, all you need is “ip”)

If you do not want to specify a directory path for the log file, use the following command:

netsh int ipv4 reset resetlog.txt

Then reboot the computer.

Give that a try and let us know if that works.

I am the captain of my soul.
